Change in the Board of Management at HORNBACH HOLDING AG - Reinforcement of Management at HORNBACH Baustoff Union GmbH

Organizational changes taking effect as of April 01. 2004 are expected to reinforce the management team of HORNBACH Baustoff Union GmbH (HBU), a wholly-owned subsidiary of HORNBACH HOLDING AG. These measures are aimed at achieving ongoing improvements in the earnings generated by HBU, thereby enabling the company to do justice to the high level of expectations placed in it.
The first such change involves Eduard Zimmerle, Deputy Chairman of HORNBACH HOLDING AG, taking over with immediate effect as Director of the management team at HBU.
Moreover, Bernd Weisenburger, Director of HBU will in future be able to focus his energies on the company's procurement and IT activities, thereby realizing the potential still inherent in these areas.
At the same time, Bernd Weisenburger will relinquish his position on the Board of Management of HORNBACH HOLDING AG as of April 1, 2004. The board responsibility for the builders merchants division will therefore also be assumed by Eduard Zimmerle.
With a current total of 20 outlets and almost 600 employees, HORNBACH Baustoff Union GmbH is one of the largest builders merchants chains in South-Western Germany. Its new management team will enable it to achieve a further expansion of its market position.
