Strongly placed: HORNBACH HOLDING AG does not have any proprietary operating activities, but rather owns three subsidiaries. With a share of sales significantly in excess of 90%, HORNBACH-Baumarkt-AG is by far the largest operating subsidiary within the HORNBACH Group. The company operates DIY megastores with garden centers in Germany and abroad.
The two other subsidiaries are HORNBACH Baustoff Union GmbH (HBU) and HORNBACH Immobilien AG. While HBU is active in the construction materials and builders merchants business and has mainly commercial customers, HORNBACH Immobilien AG is involved in the development and utilization of first-class retail properties.
The share capital of HORNBACH HOLDING AG is equally divided into ordinary shares and non-voting preference shares. Of the four million preference shares (ISIN DE0006083439), 41,3% are owned by independent shareholders. Around 8,7% of the preference shares are held by Kingfisher plc. The preference shares have a continuous listing within the Prime Standard stock market segment in the SDAX.
Of the four million non-listed ordinary shares, 37,5% are owned by the family. The Group's strategic partner, Kingfisher, holds 12,5% plus one share in the voting capital.
